Bradford Abbas Parish Council - Neighbourhood Plan

The Parish Council would like to thank all those who attended the meeting on 16th November when we had presentations from the chair and clerk of Hazelbury Bryan PC, Steve Murcer and Malcolm Wilson, on their experience in setting up a Neighbourhood Plan. On a show of hands amongst the 50 plus people present, it would seem that there is a will for Bradford Abbas PC to also start the process off.

St. Mary’s Week 2021

Who needs stuff in the shops? To make your Christmas go with a bang, the St Mary’s Week Team has the following events. Put them in your diary now.

Gollop’s Ground update;

Following the unsuccessful attempt to have Gollop’s Ground designated a Village Green, the Chair and Vice Chair and two other residents met with the landowners on Friday 3rd September in Gollop’s Ground. The landowners rejected the Parish Council’s proposal to lease or purchase the field for the continued use of the community.

Improving the Street Scene in Bradford Abbas

With the wonderful restoration of the phone box, success of the little library and establishing the three planters, Churchwell Street has been enhanced alongside the pub.

Bradford Abbas St Mary’s Week

The Church That Rocks – Saturday 17th July

3pm – 10pm in the Village Playing Field

 

Join us for a day of musical entertainment. The field will be laid out with circles for family/group bubbles (as we did last September). Enter the field through the Westbury gate (50m north of the school). Why not bring your garden chairs or a rug to sit on and a picnic.

Party in the Park on Saturday 3rd July, 6pm till late. Everyone welcome! Bring your friends and family. Free entry to all. 

Live music from local band Shockwave and more. BBQ available or bring your own picnic; all drinks to be purchased from the bar.

Telephone Box Update

We hope that you have enjoyed the books, DVDs, puzzles and games over the last few weeks. Thank you for your contributions. We appealed for books for children and received a wonderful selection in super condition, all of which went very quickly and we would now welcome more. We also have a need for books for teenagers. They tell us that they would like James Bond or similar. Thank you also for the seeds and plants that you left by the telephone box over Easter. These were very popular.

A Farewell Message from Alan and Wendy

 Dear villagers of Bradford Abbas

 This will be our final message in the Pennant as the shop will be closing its doors for the last time soon after Easter.

At the time of writing Easter Monday will be our last day for newspapers and the previous week for magazines. During our last week there will be deals galore to clear all the stock. We are due to move out by 13th April.
